This documentary film presents leading authorities in the fields of psychology of women and girls, eating disorders, gender studies, violence against women and media literacy. The video focusses on the fight against these toxic and degrading messages to girls and women that dominate the media and gives ideas on practical solutions and the best tactics for reclaiming our culture.

Participants are paired adults and professionals who then are able to use YoB techniques within their sponsoring organizations. This video gives an overview of the process and outcomes from youth participation.

This video shows numerous real life and dramatizations of abuse and how dangerous it can become. Also described are some successful programs and techniques for professionals.
BOOKS:
MISSION-BASED MANAGEMENT (book)
Leading your Not-For-Profit in the 21st Century
By Peter C. Brinckerhoff— Published by John Wiley & Sons, 2000
Brinckerhoff contends that we must present an image of competence and stability rather than reliance on charitable inclinations of the community or funders. The successful not-for-profit programs of the future will be well-run businesses which will find ways to sustain income and to be increasingly self-sufficient and less dependent on governmental or foundation supports. This book provides excellent guidance and rationale for moving your agency into the 21st Century and contains reviews of mission statements and bylaws, financial and business plans, long range development plans, organizational and personnel evaluations, relationships with boards of trustees and with funding sources. Both real-life experiences and sample documents are provided. A must-read for anyone new to not-for-profit leadership/management, this book is also very instructive in areas of policy development, predictions of future developments and techniques for relating to community interests for veteran agency directors.
WRITING FOR A GOOD CAUSE (book)
The Complete Guide to Crafting Proposals and Other Persuasive Pieces for Nonprofits
By Joseph Barbato & Danielle S. Furlich— Published by Simon & Schuster, 2000
We recently acquired a copy of this book for $15.00. The target audience is grant and foundation proposal writers. A large number of examples are provided to demonstrate the techniques and styles that the authors advocate. In addition to advice on how to organize the process, they provide rationale for how to appeal to various sectors of the grant making community. There are examples of how to write promotional materials, how to simplify the writing process and how grant makers respond to various styles and approaches. Best of all, the book is fun to read. It is witty, direct, and easy to use. The development offices of all not for profit agencies and individuals who regularly write proposals will find this book very useful.
